Sunday Saves the Weekend

So ill roll though the current events here at the BCN. Starting with this weekend. It all starts on Friday after being woken up with a hangover by Gisela saying that the boys (Felipe and Tom) had called and wanted to meet at the university (30 min away) in about 45 min to work on the base for the new section model were making of a portion of the city. After getting my act together and getting out there we came to realize how different our wood shop was from theres. First off unlike our studio they dont have desk space for 2500 students at this university and the space they do have is nestled in between the line for buying school supplies and the wood shop that they have (all in one building about the size of my apartment) after getting there and battling for not one but two desks to do our huge project we get down to the nitty gritty of working on the model base. But the challenges kept on coming for once we got to the only table saw there we became aware that the saw was in disrepair and labeled broken. Frustrated but not discouraged Felipe and I decided to try to fix it while Tom worked on setting up the desks. after tearing the machine apart and realizing this really might not work Felipe tells me to hold the button on while he is going to crank the blade to help it to start (sort of like a world war 1 airplane) this indeed worked with a put puttt puttttt vrooooom.... ok so we have it started ok lets just bang this project out now right? no, the table top wont stay still and rotates making it impossible to have a square edge on the few test pieces we tested. Ok so we then came up with a solution for this using the few clamps they had to lend us we clamped a scrap piece of wood to the top and slowly razed the saw till it cut its own hole and made the table perfect. so everything is perfect right well yeah minus the fact we had to leave sortly after for their two hour siesta/lunch break so we went got some lunch and some beers and then came back to finish it all the while dodging the millions of people that seem to go in and out of that building to complete our project. all in all a 2 hour project took us roughly 7 hours to do. But Sunday made everything all worth it after getting up to go into the city to take some mid day pics of some of the sites Gisela and I have for a project. The first site which we had earlier thought to be the worst site we had ended up being the most pleasant site to be at. i leaned that even if a space isn't very aesthetically pleasing the people in that space can actually make or brake a space. seeing all of the families and kids playing and using the space honestly helped to give an additional sense to architecture which is the human aspect. Then after leaving to head home we decided to stop and get some lunch in front of "Sagrada Familia" at a small restaurant called Babilonia that wood fires their food. We sat outside in the middle of an outdoor market and had live music and the most incredible view of the Church, it made Spain all worth it.
